leader to complete sign-ups and start the hike on time. When adverse weather conditions prevail, the

This is a 7-mile hike in Town Run Trail Park, Indy’s premier mountain biking
trail along the White River. From I-465
on the north side, go north on Allisonville Road. Turn left (west) on 96th St. and go 0.6 miles to the
park entrance on your left (look for partially hidden park sign) across the
street from a Carmel water treatment plant.
Trail gets muddy after a heavy rain, so consider hiking boots. Bring water. (M,NS,3-3.5) Leader: Ed Wright (219-5536)

in downtown Indy, take I-65 south. Exit
I-65 at Raymond Street (exit 109) and go right (west) on Raymond for about 1/2
mile. Turn left (south) onto Pleasant Run Parkway N. Dr. and go to the next
stoplight. Turn left onto Pagoda Drive;
then turn left again and park in the swimming pool parking lot. This is a 5-6 mile hike on the Pleasant
Run Trail. There is a restroom break at beginning and halfway
through the hike. Repeats each Friday

through Franklin past the intersection of SR 44 & 31. Go over Young's Creek and turn left at the

the Beeson Recreation Center on left.
Park in the lot to the west of the building, not in the north lot
as we used to do. Hike is 10 miles with

AM WHITEWATER MEMORIAL STATE PARK
(84mi) Allow about 2 hrs from I-465. Take I-70 east to Richmond, exit 151B
(151A is closed due to construction).
Go south on SR 27 to Liberty.
Continue South on SR 101 a couple of miles to park entrance on
right. Follow park road (go toward boat
rental) across dam. There is a parking
area just across the dam but go another half mile to parking area with restroom
and picnic table. Bring a picnic
lunch. Hike is 7 miles with shorter
options. We will do 3 miles out and
back, eat lunch, and then do a 4 mile loop with an option of 2 additional

9:00 AM WALK AND WORSHIP From I-465 N, exit on Michigan Road heading south, turn left at first
light (92nd. St.) and go ¼ mile to Pyramids.
Meet in the parking lot for the Pyramids. This will be a 4-5 mile walk
on paved roads followed by an optional 45-minute non-denominational and
contemporary religious service inside Beef & Boards. Walking clothes are fine and there will be
coffee, bagels, donuts, etc. Hope you
stay for the inspirational service at the Garden. Bring the kids. Repeats

AM MONON TRAIL IN CARMEL From North Meridian go east on 106th St. 1.5 miles to Westfield
Blvd. Turn left (north) on Westfield
and go about 0.7 miles. Park entrance

parking lot at end of drive. We will meet on
the Monon Trail under the bridge between the two buildings near the skateboard
park. This will be a 7-mile
self-guided* hike on the Monon Trail to 146th Street and back, with

Take Keystone Avenue north from I-465 a little more than 1 mile and turn right
on 106th Street. Turn left immediately
on West Lakeshore Drive and park at Forest Dale Elementary School. If 106th Street is closed due to roundabout
construction, continue north on Keystone and turn right on 116th Street. At the second street turn right on West
Lakeshore Drive and follow it back to the school. This 9-mile adventure explores a number of unique sites in the
southeast corner of Carmel. (F,PS/NS,3.5)

through Nashville or I-65 South to SR 46 West to the park (fee). After entering the park, follow signs to the

Preserve. Meet there for a 10-mile hike

short distance (.4 mile) and turn left onto Wolf Creek Pike and go 5.7 miles
southeast to the park. Turn left
(north) on Seybold Road. Go about half
a mile to small parking area with a picnic table just after crossing Wolf
Creek. Hike is two 4-mile loops with
picnic lunch in the middle. Bring water
and picnic lunch for 8-mile hike on dirt and grass paths in the park. Can be muddy in a few places. Some

FREUDENFEST 10K WANDERUNG The Club has attended this fun event for many
years. Take I-74 southeast to SR 229,
Exit 149 (Batesville) and turn north driving 2.6 miles to Oldenburg. Park you car at any legal location on the
streets and proceed to the Town Hall where the Wanderung will start. 10K (6.2 miles) course will be open from
7-11am. Walk one or two self-guided*
loops. We plan to be there at 8:30 AM
with the sign up sheet, which we will leave at the start area for those coming
either earlier or later. Contributions
to the Wanderung would be welcomed. Enjoy
the German food, music and festivities of the Freudenfest after the hike. (M,NS/PS)

HOLLIDAY PARK TO FRIEDMANN PARK If the White River water level is low
enough, we will be able to see perhaps the only place in Marion
County where bedrock is exposed. Enter Holliday Park via north entrance
located at 64th and Spring Mill Road. Take the road to the left and meet

first and we will take a brief lunch break and do the 10-mile Low Gap

for members and their invited guests. The Club has reserved Shelter “B” at the
north end of Eagle Creek Park (fee).
Follow signs to the shelter.
There will be an easy 5-mile hike starting at 10:00 AM. We will eat shortly after the hikers
return. If you are coming just for the
picnic, plan to arrive by noon. Come prepared for a good time and
bring enough food and drink to contribute to an old fashioned pitch-in dinner:
an entrée, your favorite vegetable, a salad, bread, a dessert, or snacks (take
your choice). Don’t forget to bring
plates and utensils. Use coolers to
protect your food from the heat. You
might want to bring folding chairs. If

BEAR LAKE This 15-mile hike on the Tecumseh Trail is the first of a new
series I will be leading. Lunch and
plenty of water are a must; hiking boots and poles are optional. Allow about 1
hour and 15 minutes travel time from the intersection of I-465 and SR 37 on
Indy’s south side. Take SR 37 south about 4 miles south of Martinsville. Turn left at the sign for Morgan-Monroe
State Forest and go about 4 miles to the forest entrance. Turn left and go about 4 miles on a winding
road to the Park Office on your left.
