2020 ACHIEVEMENT AWARD WINNERS AND NEW 25 YEAR MEMBERS

Because of Covid 19 this was a very unusual year for the Hiking Club, in that all hiking was suspended for 10 weeks from mid-March though the end of May. Hiking was resumed on June 1, under strict Covid-19 policy guidelines (e.g., masks and social distancing). Accordingly, due to the decreased opportunity to hike the Board of Directors adjusted the award threshold for three of the Achievement Awards for 2020 as follows:

Millennium Award - reduced to 800 miles from 1,000 miles
Pathfinder Award - reduced to leading 40 hikes versus 50 hikes
Trailblazer Award - reduced to leading 12 different hikes versus leading 15 different hikes
Award thresholds for all of the remaining awards were left unchanged for 2020.

The winners of the Annual Achievement Awards and new 25 year members are normally announced at the Annual Winter Banquet usually held on the first Sunday in December, however this year's Banquet was cancelled due to Covid 19 concerns. This year's award winners and new 25 year members are announced on the Club website (i.e., this page). Each of the 44 winners of 58 different awards (some people won more than one award) received a gray short sleeve t-shirt embossed with the Club logo and 2020 Achievement Awards. Here is a photo of the award. The 13 new 25 year members each will receive a commerative plaque.
